Professional Requirements—10 Hours (Theory)

I- Students will explore career opportunities and learn
professionalism and appropriate conduct in classroom,
salon and other professional events.

Safety and Health—10 hours (5 hours Theory/ 5 hours Practical

I- personal and salon safety standards and EPA prevention in
corrective measures in the industry.
II- The students will practice and apply health and safety OSHA
standards as they pertain to the course of study.
III- Students will learn the types of bacteria, viruses, and fungus.
IV- Students will learn all levels of sanitation and the proper
steps in practicing infection control.

Hair Analysis —10 Hours (5 hours Theory/5 hours Practical)

Anatomy and Physiology —5Hours

shampoo and scalp conditioning procedures.
II- Determines proper protection for the client based on
the task to be performed.
III- The students will learn basic nutrition that
promotes health and wellness.

Hair and Scalp Disorders and Diseases —10 Hours (6 Hours Theory/4 Hours Practical)

I-The student will learn disorders of the hair and scalp.
II- The student will learn which hair and scalp disorders
can be treated in the salon.
III- Students learn the reason for normal daily hair loss.
IV- The student will learn the most common types of
abnormal hair loss.
V-Students will work in teams to diagnose hair and scalp
disorders and suggest corrective treatments.

Shampoos, Rinses, Conditioners and Treatments — 20 Hours (15 hours Theory/ 5 hours

I- The student will learn to identify and perform proper
safety procedures before,
during and after shampoo and conditioning procedure.

III- Students will choose products specific to hair types as
well as hair and scalp disorders.
IV- Students will learn proper scalp manipulation during
a shampoo service.

Hair Braiding, Locking, Weaving and Styling--220 Hours (60 Hours Theory/ 160 Hours Practical

I- The student will evaluate tools, implements, and materials used in
designing hair textured hair styles and styles that require extensions.
II- Students will appraise methods of attachment in the designing of
wigs, hair additions, and hair extensions.
III- The student will evaluate products used in caring for wigs and
hair extensions.
IV- Illustrates how to determine quality and differences between
synthetic, synthetic blends, and human hair.
V-Selects the type of hair additions used to add fullness and length.
VI-The student will learn hair styling techniques that including
braiding, twisting, wrapping and locking.
8.6 Students will identify and learn how to use thermal styling tools on
textured hair.
8.7 Students will practice daily styling their mannequins to work
toward mastering techniques that will help them be a safe and
successful Natural Hair Stylist.
